Going to the mountains? We advise what to watch out for!

Are you going out with the kids for the first time? Then be sure to consider carefully when planning your destination whether your chosen mountain resort is suitable for all members of the family. Consider not only the experience and age of the children, but also the activities on offer for children (e.g. certified ski or snowboard schools, playrooms, etc.) and suitable accommodation.

WHAT TO REMEMBER TO DO?

Always make sure you have travel insurance, including health insurance for the whole family, before you travel. Check the validity of travel documents, credit cards and carry a small amount of cash. Then be sure to look up and save the number of the mountain service at your specific destination.

SERVICE

Check your ski and snowboard equipment carefully before heading to the mountains. Leave your skis and snowboard in the care of a service centre, where they will take professional care of them and you will be sure they are in good condition and ready for a great ride. Take the same care with your children's equipment.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR IN THE MOUNTAINS?

DRESS WELL

To be comfortable on the slopes, you need to dress properly. It is ideal to layer your clothing so that you can remove or remove a layer if necessary. Thermal clothing, a fleece or classic sweatshirt, sweat-wicking socks and good quality waterproof ski trousers, jacket or overalls should not be missing. Waterproof gloves are also a must, and in case of frost you will also appreciate a ski hood to keep you warm and wick away sweat.

As children often spend a lot of time in the snow, it's a good idea to pack a spare set of clothes to take with you to the mountains so that they can change in case of wet weather or an accident.

THINK ABOUT SAFETY

Never go on the slopes without a helmet with a shield or goggles. A spine protector is also ideal to protect your spine and upper body in the event of an accident. Also beware that in some resorts, wearing a spine protector is even required by safety rules for children.

Remember that in mountain resorts you must only ever travel on marked trails and slopes. Freeriding off-piste can cost you not only a hefty fine, but also your health or even your life in the event of an accident or even an avalanche.

BE CAREFUL ON THE SLOPES

If you are going to the slopes with small children or beginners, always choose the appropriate difficulty level and keep your children under control. Always let your child go ahead of you and correct their direction and speed to avoid falling or endangering other people on the slope. Always accompany the child on the lift or cable car.

PROTECT THE SKIN

The mountain sunshine tans more than you might imagine. So always protect yourself with sunscreen and good quality sunglasses. Your skin should also be protected from the cold and wind. If temperatures are below freezing, always use creams that do not contain water in their formula (special frost creams or petroleum jelly are ideal).

WATCH THE WEATHER

Weather in the mountains can be quite unpredictable and can change very quickly. So if you're going on a day skiing or cross-country skiing trip, always have enough drinks, food and clothing with you in case it gets significantly colder. Remember to always have a charged mobile phone with you.

INDISPENSABLE FIRST AID KIT

Even in the mountains, you must not miss a basic first aid kit with plasters, bandages, disinfectant, painkillers, fever killers and other medicines for children. It is also advisable to carry a cooling gel pad, ointment to relax strained muscles or plasters.

And what else will they definitely not forget? Social games to entertain children and adults alike, and most importantly, a good mood.

We wish you a great holiday full of great experiences!
