When is it time for a bigger bike?

01.04.2025

Children grow incredibly fast, and this applies not only to clothes and shoes, but also to their sports equipment. With the arrival of spring, many parents are surprised to find that last year's bike is already too small this year. So how to know when it's time for a bigger model, and what to do with the old one? We will answer these questions in the following article.

When is it time for a bigger bike?

WHEN SIZE MATTERS

The right bike size is crucial not only for safety, but also for comfort and enjoyment. If the child's bike is small, the ride is not only uncomfortable, but also physically more tiring and less efficient.

How do you know when it's time to change to a bigger bike?

The child feels cramped on the bike and is forced to slouch. Even with maximum saddle extension, the child has difficulty controlling the bike comfortably.

The handlebars are too close, limiting smooth turning and manoeuvring.

When pedalling, the knees are too high and almost touch the handlebars. The angle at the knee is unnaturally sharp, which causes discomfort and can lead to pain.

The child cannot use the full range of motion when pedalling. Pedalling is inefficient, jerky and requires unnecessary effort.

The bike is harder to control, the child has trouble keeping balance and the ride is unsteady.

The child complains of pain in the back, legs or arms, which is a clear signal that the bike is not the right size.

WHAT ABOUT HIM?

When the child outgrows the bike, there are two possible solutions: pass it on to a younger sibling or another family member, or sell it.

SUSTAINABILITY WITHIN THE FAMILY

The advantage of Beany bikes is that they offer a wide range of colours. If the parents have chosen a neutral design, siblings of the opposite sex can inherit without any problems, so there is no need to buy a new bike for the younger child. Thanks to the high quality and regular servicing, Beany bikes will reliably serve all the children in the family and you can even sell them at a good price afterwards.

MINIMUM LOSSES

The advantage of quality children's bikes is that they hold their value in the long term. This means that if the bike is undamaged, you can sell it after 2-3 years of use with minimal loss. It will still be under warranty! We trust our bikes 100%, so we guarantee the frame and fork for 4 years.
