DR SPORT From idea to implementation "The idea for our company was born out of a long-standing friendship and the idea of what more we could do for people who go to the mountains for adventure. I have a guesthouse in Černý Důl (in the Giant Mountains). David has been doing business here for a long time and provides services in the field of tourism, he has a rental shop with complete winter equipment, skis, snowboards, skialps, cross-country skis, in short everything," says Přemek Davídek. Přemek and David are the founders of DR SPORT. The right timing The moment electric bikes started to appear on the market in the Czech Republic, they thought that this was great and that this would give even less skilled hobby athletes the opportunity to ride the hilly terrain of the Krkonoše Mountains. What are we going to say, the Krkonoše Mountains are really up and down and to ride down a few of these hills requires some training. "Well, to make a long story short, we started an electric bike rental service. We were among the first to offer e-bikes for children. Some people argue that kids shouldn't ride e-bikes, that it's spoiling them, but this is more about the momentary experience in the mountains, in those extreme hills. The idea that parents are riding uphill on an e-bike and their 12-year-old daughter is pedalling alongside them is nonsensical," adds Přemek. The road to Beany Some time passed and Přemek and David decided to start selling e-bikes and bikes. At that time in Vrchlabí we came across Roman Blažek, the owner of the Beany brand, who was just like them at the beginning. "We were excited about his idea and products for children's sports. The idea that the bikes would be light, easy to handle and therefore safe, skis and snowboards, have a wooden core, all with a super novel design that kids like, it was just an obvious choice. We immediately started working together," says David. We try to order Beany's products so that we can present a consistent collection to people in Prague. It's called Beany Point. Unfortunately now, thanks to Covid and production problems, it's not quite working out. But we believe that in time things will get back to normal. DR SPORT currently We are now at the stage of having two branches, one in Prague and the other in the Giant Mountains. The one in Prague we are still and gradually expanding. We are building everything ourselves, gradually, from our own resources, no rich investor is behind us. We are lucky that we have recruited skilled guys to service our bikes. This is the basis, to sell a bike and then take good care of it for the customer. We also offer test bikes and e-bikes so customers can try out how the bike fits them. We try to do our own delivery in Prague, where we bring the bike to the customer 100% assembled, we introduce them to the service. Especially with electric bikes this is important and customers appreciate this individual approach. We wish you many wonderful experiences in the saddle of the bike.
